Keeping up a community tradition, people from around the White Center community gathered to sing christmas carols, dress up in silly holiday clothes and celebrate the lighting of the community Christmas Tree at Triangle Park. Just adjacent to Mac's Triangle Pub the event this year was special. It commemorated the passing of Tommy Martin, owner of Speed of Sound Studios whose sudden passing in October sent shock waves through White Center and beyond. Close friend Tony Lilly set in motion the decoration of the tree with plates, each featuring a photo of Martin from past years.
The White Center Christmas Carolers were there largely in red and white gear doing hearty renditions of several Christmas songs and the event was led by former White Center "Mayor" Christine Spencer who provided the thank you's and did the count down to the lighting.
The tree was provided by Tom the Butcher at Meat the Live Butcher, Mac (who also played Santa) at the Triangle and Doug at White Center Tool.
The tree was put in place by Gary’s Westside Towing and lights were generously donated by Ethan Savaglio and Allison Jester at 9 Yards Brewing in Kenmore. Refreshments were provided by the Triangle Pub, Macadons and Good Day doughnuts Power and sound from Oliver Little at Monumental Undertaking and triangle karaoke host Christopher Mychael.
Record ornaments provided and painted by Dana and Brian at Ray City Records.
Patrick, thank you for your video coverage. Very much appreciated particularly since the Christmas tree lighting was in memory to one of White Center's involved and caring residents, TOMMY MARTIN! Thanks again.
Thanks everyone. I don't deserve the credit, but instead share the moment with all of Tommy's friends. Thanks PAT
