Al was preceded in death by Ilmi Salmi, his beloved wife of 68 years. Loving father of Jeanne Marie Anglin (Don) and Susan Phillips Hamm (Bob); grandfather of four grandchildren: Matt (Gwyn), Mark (Cherie), Todd (Amber), Karen (Brad); great grandfather to Tyler (Korrin), Kellen, and Duke; great-great grandfather to Roslyn and Walter; and his “second family” Bob and Judy, neighbors for 55 years. He was born in Seattle on August 9, 1919. He joined the WA National Guard in 1936 while attending Franklin High School and served in the US Army 41st Infantry Division in the Pacific during WWII. Al worked at Seattle Platen Company for 49 years and was active in the 41st Infantry Association, VFW Post 4314 and a Life Member of the North Highline Fire Department. He looked forward to Friday “lunch bunch” at the Burien Elks. Al was a talented woodworker and enjoyed giving his ducks to everyone for a smile. There will be a celebration of Al’s life on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 11:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the Burien Elks.
