Virginia passed away at 96 on her birthday. She was born and raised in Medfield, MA, the youngest of three children born to Earl and Jennie Johnson; the sister to Winthrop Johnson and Dorothy (Johnson) Kane.
She attended Roanoke College in Virginia, where she met John VanderPyl, her husband of 76 years. He was from Attleboro, MA where they resided until 1954, before moving to Burien, WA. She worked and retired at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. In April 2004, they moved to Judson Park Retirement Center in Des Moines, WA.
She loved her views of Puget Sound from her own home and retirement home. She was active in her Sorority, Garden Club, enjoyed baseball, traveling, and had a deep affection for Dachshunds.
Virginia was truly a “people person” loved by her many friends for her special laugh and humorous personality.
Virginia is survived by her husband John, age 101 and brother-in-law Howard Kane, age 101, of Foxboro, MA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private burial held in Attleboro, MA at North Purchase Cemetery. Donations in her honor can be made to a charity of your choice.
