Peter C. Meyer, formerly of West Seattle, passed away on April 3, 2018, in California, surrounded by his loving family. Pete was born February 22, 1950 in Seattle, Washington, to Bill & Florence Meyer. He graduated from West Seattle High School in 1968, and earned a Drafting Technician certificate from Seattle Central Community College in 1969. Soon after, he met the love of his life, Riva, and they spent over 47 years together, residing mainly in California.
He enjoyed working as a DJ for Humboldt’s Power 96.3 KFMI FM, and was well-known for his popular “Meyer in the Morning” radio show, serving the communities of Eureka, Arcata and Blue Lake, California for over 30 years. In addition, he had his own business, and was a DJ for many special events, including weddings, parties and dances.
It became apparent that Pete was destined to be a DJ from the time he was 12 years old. He had a kids’ radio station in his West Seattle neighborhood, and would invite the local kids over to interview them on his talk show. He was also a talented musician, and as a teenager, he was the lead vocalist and keyboard player in several bands in Seattle.
Pete was a much-loved family man, and is survived by his wife, Riva, their four sons, Delaney (Valencia), Darby (Olivia), Jody, and Lonny (Poema), and grandchildren: Saunjay, Malavai, Lia and Nalu Meyer, Darion, Khyriece, and Jahaun Campbell, and Mike Zamboni. He is also survived by his mother, Florence Meyer, his sister, Marilee (Kevin) Donohoe, and nephews, Dan and Brian Donohoe. His father, William C. Meyer, passed away in 2003.
