Elaine Joann Edwards, age 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 19, 2018 at Swedish Hospital. She was born on July 15, 1935 in Badger, Minnesota, the daughter of Hilmer and Malla Jensen. Elaine graduated with honors from West Seattle High School in June 1952 and went on to Seattle Pacific College where she graduated Cum Laude with a BA in Education in June 1956. She married William Edwards and together, they enjoyed 62 years of wedded bliss. Teaching was Elaine’s passion! For more than 25 years she led the Primary Sunday School Department of The Berean Bible Church. She also wrote and directed the church’s Children’s Christmas programs during that same time. Elaine started her teaching career with substitute teaching in Seattle and soon found a position at John Muir Elementary teaching Kindergarten. She then transferred to Genesee Hill Elementary teaching first grade, followed by teaching at Fairmont Park along with her husband and brother, Harlan Jensen. She retired in 1995. Traveling to Cannon Beach was another fun activity for her. For 35 years she and Bill, along with various family members, would spend long weekends there. Elaine is survived by her husband, William; daughter, Debbie (Kelly) Garber; her sons Doug (Diane) Edwards and Randy (Zee) Edwards; daughter-in-law Nancy Sternitzky; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son Russell Edwards. Services are open to all at Pigott Chapel, Providence Mount Saint Vincent, 4831 35th Ave. SW, Seattle, WA on June 13th at 1:00 pm.
