Ida Mildred Nikula died on September 30, 2018 in Irvine, California. She was 94 years old.
Millie, as she was known to family and friends, was born to Marie (Bakken) Anderson and August Anderson, on March 24, 1924, in Williston, North Dakota. She was the one of six children. At age 20 she moved to Seattle and lived with childhood friends from Williston. She loved life in the city and enjoyed dancing to the big band music. Those memories remained among her happiest in life. On July 22, 1949, she wed Albert Nikula. They had two daughters, Janice and Diane. Millie was widowed in 1989. She remained in the family home until February of this year, when she moved to the Daystar Assisted Living facility. A week before her passing, she traveled to Southern California where her eldest daughter Janice resides. Sadly, her time there was brief.
She is survived by her two daughters, her son-in-law Dan Kovarik, and three grandchildren, Nikola, Barrett and Casey. Family will mark her passing privately.
