Continually improving Tyee executed its program well in a 54 - 12 SPSL 2A girls basketball victory against visiting Evergreen in SeaTac on Tues., Dec. 18.
Disrupting the Wolverine offense with tough defense from the outset, the Totems exploded for a 12 - 1 first quarter lead and worked the same patterns the rest of the way.
Evergreen suited up only six players due to sickness and even one those players was playing through her own sickness.
With little chance for respite, the Wolverines gamely fought to the end.
“The girls have been improving every game under a new system,” said first-year Tyee head coach Kody Dribnak. “They keep playing hard and this was one of their better efforts under the system.”
Part of the Tyee Totem learning experience was a 33 - 29 overtime win against Highline that forced execution under pressure.
Day Day Johnson converted a pair of three-point goals as part of her 10 Totem points. Makin Yee and Tiday Sesat earned eight points apiece.
