Football
Kennedy Catholic earned the No. 1 seeding into the state Class 4A round of 16 and will host No. 16 Wenatchee at 7 p.m. Friday at Renton Memorial Stadium.
The Lancers carry a 10-0 record into the fray while Wenatchee stands at 7-3. The winner hosts a state quarterfinal next week and the loser is out.
Volleyball
Ballard and West Seattle both enter the Sea-King Class 3A tournament Thursday, playing 5:30 p.m. loser-out matches on separate courts at Seattle's Lakeside High School.
West Seattle plays Interlake as the Beavers take on Lake Washington.
Winners play again at 7:30 p.m.
Kennedy Catholic and Mount Rainier open 4A West Central District action Friday.
The Lancers play Puyallup at 3 p.m. at Stadium and the Rams meet Camas at 4:45 p.m. at Bellarmine.
Winners play again at 8:15 p.m. and the losers at 6:30 p.m.
Both tournaments run through Saturday with state berths at stake.
Girls swimming
The King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way hosts state swimming and diving action this weekend.
Class 4A preliminaries start at 9:45 a.m. Friday followed by the 2A at 2 p.m. and the 3A at 6:30 p.m.
Class 4A finals begin at 9:15 a.m. Saturday ahead of the 2A at 2:15 p.m. and the 3A at 7 p.m.

Seattle drew a bye for this week before visiting Philadelphia at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 on Channel 5 television.
Thunderbirds
Seattle hosts Portland for a 6:05 p.m. Western Hockey League match at the accesso Showare Center this Saturday before entertaining Winnipeg at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday and visiting Kamloops at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Cougar football
Washington State University will be at home in Pullman playing Stanford at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Pac-12 cable television network will show the game live.
Husky football
Washington drew a bye for this week before visiting Colorado on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Husky volleyball
Washington hosts Colorado for an 8 p.m. match Friday on Pac-12WA and Utah comes to town at 1 p.m. Sunday.
Husky men's hoop
Federal Way graduate Jaden McDaniels and the Huskies play Tennessee in Toronto at 2 p.m. Saturday before hosting Maine at 8 p.m. Tuesday on the Pac-12 network.
Husky women's hoop
The Huskies are off until Saturday, Nov. 23 when they host Seattle University at 2 p.m.
Cougar men's hoop
Washington State hosts Idaho State for a 1 p.m. Sunday game on Pac-12 cable.
Cougar women's hoop
The Cougars travel to Boise State for 4 p.m. action next Wednesday.
Redhawk men's hoop
Seattle University visits Syracuse at 4 p.m. Saturday before dropping in on Ole Miss at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Redhawk women's hoop
The Redhawks go to Northern Arizona for a 1 p.m. Saturday game before entertaining the Idaho Vandals at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Bulldog men's hoop
Gonzaga visits Texas A&M at 6 p.m. Friday and hosts UT Arlington at the same time Tuesday.
