The show is an inspirational musical dramatization of the life and passion of one of the principle founders of the nursing profession and a powerful role model for today’s nurses. Nightingale spoke truth to power, caught the old guard in the act of being obsolete, and thereby changed the world. This musical reveals issues that continue to challenge modern nurses, such as hierarchy, sexism, and bureaucratic obstacles.
Nightingale is produced by HEARTS: Health & Arts, a non-profit dedicated to creating a “culture of health” through the arts. HEARTS works with nursing organizations and schools to sponsor the Tour, including Washington State Nurses Association, SEIU Healthcare 1199NW, Nursing Associations in King and Pierce Counties, Nursing Schools at University of Washington, Tacoma Community College, Bellingham Technical College, and many others.
The show will also be performed at theaters in Seattle: West of Lenin, Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, and Shoreline Community College Theater. For the full Bicentennial Tour 2020 Schedule and information about tickets, see: http://heartshealtharts.org/nightingale-musical/
