FEDERAL WAY - The Kennedy Catholic girls bowling team started strongly on lanes 23 and 24 before being unable to sustain the concentration in a 4-1 NPSL 4A loss to Federal Way at Secoma Lanes on Tues., Jan. 6.
”We had a lack of concentration,” said Lancer head coach Steve Woodcock. “It was like reintroducing themselves to the lanes (after Winter Break). You’ve got to get those spares.”
In the first game, Kennedy Catholic led 370-369 after six frames.
Kate Corneliuson spared in the ninth frame to help and Sydney Elicker doubled in the 10th to secure a 643-595 KC win.
Elicker opened up with seven consecutive marks on the way to a 188 score.
Behind the 189 game of Ylianna Walters, Federal Way took over and pulled away beginning in the fourth frame en route to a 694-629 win in game two. Sophia Moore’s 139 was the best the Lancers could offer.
Kennedy Catholic held a 17-pin lead, but the Baker format games were a struggle.
The first Baker game went down to the 10th frame before the Eagles won 135-128.
Four strikes in a row by FW to end the second Baker game sealed a 152-102 win that resulted in a total pins win, as well.
Federal Way improved 4-4 while Kennedy Catholic stood at 3-5.
