The Mount Rainier Rams led by sophomore quarterback Elijah Brady (#10) were almost unable to score against Decatur on Friday night.
Their only points came late in the game from a field goal by fellow sophomore Owen Peterson (#22) from the left hash around the 30-yard line.
Coach Tremain Mack, like many other coaches this short season, is proud of how the young team is coming along.
"It has been hard without being able to have games until now. Our goal is to prepare these boys for life and to have a positive attitude moving forward. It has been a little tricky not being able to fully utilize our Adopt a Ram program this year. we only have 11 seniors and a large underclassmen group coming up.The next few years should be exciting to watch."
Earlier in the game, the Rams attempted an on-side kick but failed to maintain possession. Peterson was disappointed.
"I was looking for an opening but couldn't connect with the ball right," he said.
After tearing his ACL last season, Peterson is just glad he is able to play football and soccer again this year.
