WIAA honors Knox, Jackson

Kennedy Knox of Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines and Markell Jackson of Foster High School in Tukwila were both recipients of Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Athlete of the Week honors for Week 10.
Knox emerged as the North Puget Sound League girls golf champion after winning the league tournament with an 18-hole total score of 68.
Knox, who is bound for the University of Washington to play golf for the Huskies, was also named as the NPSL Co-Most Valuable Player for the season for five wins, six under par rounds and the lowest scoring average.
She finished her four year career with 34 victories and four second places -- never finishing any worse than second.
Knox also has a 4.0 Grade Point Average.
Foster's Jackson had a banner week in 2A Kingco Conference action for the Bulldogs.
Jackson scored 25 points and racked up 13 rebounds and four assists in a 73-51'victory over Highline and followed that up with an even bigger performance in a victory over Tyee.
Jackson finished with 32 points, eight rebounds, eight steals and five assists against the Totems.
He is averaging 29 points, 10 rebounds and five assists so far this year, after being named as the MVP in the 2A South Puget Sound League as a junior last year.
Jackson poured in a career best 41 points last year against Nathan Hale.
