Ballard bumped off host Shorewood by a 3-0 score Thursday in a state Class 3A boys soccer tournament opener.

The Beavers entered the action at Shoreline Stadium as the No. 14 ranked team in the state while Shorewood had been ranked No. 3.

Ballard returns to Shoreline Stadium for a Saturday state quarterfinal, taking on No. 11 Seattle Prep at 3 p.m.

Seattle Prep is coming off a 3-0 victory over Lake Washington.

Saturday's winner advances to state final four play at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup next week.

The state semifinal would be at noon next Friday.
