Industrious West Seattle is taking over the former Village Woodworks location in the West Seattle junction. They expect a fall opening.
The announcement was made via social media by owner Bret Gibson.
In the next few weeks we’ll be renovating the old Village Woodworks building and transforming it inside and out, turning it into the future home of Industrious West Seattle!
We are a gym that believes transformation comes with hard work! And so we can’t wait to roll up our sleeves and get to WORK to get this building in tip top shape for our community!

My name is Bret Gibson. Myself, my wife Cayla, and our 7-month old daughter Sloane are the proud owners of this new Industrious location!
We are West Seattle residents and no strangers to fitness. I’ve been in the fitness industry as an athlete and coach for over a decade, and for the last several years I have served as the Gym Manager at Industrious South Lake Union.
My wife Cayla and I can hardly wait to bring the Industrious brand of fitness to West Seattle. We are excited to have an impact on the community we live in and to expand the reach of the work hard, live fit philosophy!
We look forward to getting plugged into you, and we hope you’ll get plugged into us! Gibson explained, "What makes Industrious different is that all class participants get a dedicated workout station for the entire class. We call the station, “The HALO” and the system is Patent Pending with the USPTO. Industrious believes in Functional Fitness, commonly known as CrossFit and that is at core of our programming ideology.
As an example, on certain days, people can expect to do a lift like Back Squats followed by a CrossFit workout, and on other days participants can expect to do Bench Press, followed by interval training with dumbbells, barbells, boxes, and kettlebells.
On other days it might be a long sweaty interval piece on rowers, runners, and bikes. The result - a very fit body capable of tackling all the Northwest has to offer. I founded, owned, and operated Chelan Valley CrossFit before moving to the Seattle area. I started working for Industrious when they opened their South Lake Union location in 2019. I was promoted to the Gym Manager of the South Lake Union location in 2021, and I have been in that role since.
My wife, our daughter and I, live West Seattle, and we are so excited to be the owner operators of Industrious West Seattle. Our grand-opening date is scheduled for November 1, 2023 - and our permit was issued by the City in late July. We are starting construction in Mid-August. Industrious is a locally owned and operated company. It was founded in Lynnwood, WA by Stephen and Molly Hitt, expanded into South Lake Union in 2019 and began franchising in 2022.
West Seattle is the first franchise location that will be opening, and Bellevue, Tacoma, and Puyallup have already signed on, and those owner operators are hoping to get operating in 2024.
