Swedish Ballard care will

continue to be high quality

We are writing to reassure residents of Greater Ballard and north Seattle that Swedish Medical Center/Ballard will continue to provide for the health-care needs of the community, including its elderly residents.

Besides offering a state of-the-art family childbirth center that is expanding to serve a growing community, Swedish/Ballard will continue performing inpatient and outpatient procedures often necessary to treat an aging population.

Parking lack is disaster

As a business owner in Ballard, I am very concerned with the lack of parking available for my clients and myself in the core Ballard business district. Now, with the news of the impending development of new condominiums at possibly the last pay parking lot left in Ballard, I believe this issue is about to reach emergency status.

Over the past five years, we have seen our nice neighborhood evolve into a rather large metropolis due in large part to the City of Seattle's directive to make Ballard a high density living area.

ROAD DIET:Industries worry about loss of main freight route

The city wants to put 24th Avenue Northwest and Stone Way on a diet and several in indusry are not happy about the idea.

The Seattle Deparment of Transportation figures four lanes would be better with three lanes, parking and bike lanes instead of the present four traffic lanes with curbside parking.

"Put us on a diet?" says Susie Burke, secretary of the North Seattle Industrial Association.
