School candidates want confidence restored

Candidates for Seattle School Board positions that cover Ballard told the community last week what they would do to restore confidence in the public school system and unite an often divided board.

Candidates from each of the four open School Board positions came to meet community members one-on-one before a moderated forum held at Pathfinder K-8 Alternative School in West Seattle.

Just two candidates, incumbent Sally Soriano and Peter Maier, are running for District 1.

Far from disingenuous

At Large in Ballard by Peggy Sturdivant

After I talked with Andrew Lewis for two hours I had to go home and look up "disingenuous" in my unabridged dictionary. He used the word three times and it struck me that I couldn't muster a good definition. According to Random House, it means, "lacking in frankness, candor or sincerity; insincere."

Better educated in the nuances of politics than at any previous point, I can state with certainty that Andrew Lewis is far from disingenuous.
