Wolverines laboring to make postseason picture

Well, the weekend is over and Labor Day is through, but the work is just beginning for area high school football teams laboriously preparing for Seamount League season games.

One word comes to mind quickly when watching the Evergreen Wolverines' practice recently at Highline Stadium.

Ready.

"We are pretty ready to play," said Evergreen head coach Shaun Tarantola, who has transformed this team from beginners to winners in this now his third season which included the playoffs last season and an 8-2 record.

"These guys are getting pretty feisty."

Where Do Leaders Come From?

I need your help. I want to listen to you and find out what you think about leaders. Write and tell me about great leaders you know (a business owner, a physician, a writer, a teacher, a boss, a coworker, a politician, a volunteer, a family member, a cleric, etc). Let's open a dialogue on this topic.

Clearly, we are witnessing rapid change in our Community, Country, and the World.

Annexation costs detailed

Some proponents of annexation continue to confuse and misinform the public, as witnessed by a letter in the Times/News, Aug. 22.

Morality view explained

Regarding Eric Dickman's letter to the editor of Aug. 22, which responded to my letter printed on July 25, Mr. Dickman obviously failed to understand the meaning and content of my letter.

Nowhere in my letter did I use the Old Testament to state my position. My letter was written in response to Mr. Ottinger's letter of July 11, which suggested that Christians should restrict their reading to the New Testament only.

New Testament cited

The New Testament also forbids homosexual behavior. I Corinthians 6:9-10: "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit God's Kingdom? Do not be led astray; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor catamites, nor sodomites, nor thieves, not covetous persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit God's kingdom."

Chapter 15 of Acts explains why Christians do not have to keep all the laws of Moses, such as not eating shellfish, etc.
