Moon shot leaves him petrified
(Editor's Note: After being locked out of his house this week, Jerry Robinson got so hungry he visited two restaurants.)
A lot of people woke up at dawn recently and spotted the most beautiful winter moon peering through the bedroom window.
Peering back at the huge saucer that was peering over Vashon Island, it was begging for a picture to send to sister Norma in Portland.
Not wishing to miss a fleeting second, I jumped out of bed and, pajama clad, trundled down the stairs in my slippers, grabbed my trusty digital camera and hurried outside to record the histor

A travesty within the criminal justice system, which had its tragic origin in Des Moines almost seven years ago, drags on in King County Superior Court.

A vote for Rep. Ron Paul
Kudos to Senator Keiser for standing up for taxpayers who for 60 years have shouldered the unjustified tax burden to the Port of Seattle, which has mismanaged its funding and authority.
Senator Keiser's proposed bill to remove the port's authority to tax private property, especially after the dubious findings of the recent performance audit, shows plainly the need for more fiscal restraint over local governing authorities and government as a whole.
In an environment where our state and federal representatives know no bounds for fiscal restraint, e.g.
Tax "rebates" buy votes
I just wish that the politicians would stop messing with the economy, particularly when they are unqualified flops at best with this subject. This is just a "buy your vote with borrowed money" scheme. Even their description of this payout is false and misleading.
To be called a tax rebate you must have paid taxes and this welfare is directed to the 40 percent of those taxpayers who pay no taxes at all.
Condo plan violates teachings in Highline schools, Seahurst Park neighbors say
Granting an easement for a road to a proposed 200-condominium project on a hill above Seahurst Park would counter what the Highline School District teaches students about the environment.
That was the argument of some park neighbors in the Seahurst community at a Jan. 23 public hearing before the school board.
Developers of the proposed Emerald Pointe condominiums have requested that the district sell or grant an easement for a road on the west side of the old Burien Heights Elementary School site at 1210 S.W.

Third Highline farmers market expected in SeaTac
The Highline area may have its third farmers market this summer.
SeaTac neighborhood coordinator Trudy Olson presented a proposal to city lawmakers on Jan. 22 for a weekend farmers market, most likely at Angle Lake Park, to start in late July and run until Labor Day.
For several years, Burien has had a farmers market from May until early October. A seasonal Saturday market has operated until late October for the last couple of years at the Des Moines Marina.
Tukwila had a farmers market but it was discontinued last year.
