The Ballard District Council meets monthly at the Ballard Library and was formed to:
-create a powerful and yet representative voice from the Ballard community
-encourage the many diverse interests in Ballard to find each other and work together for community improvement
-create an organization of representatives; the BDC believes that the "whole" is greater and more powerful than the "sum of its parts"
-support and strengthen existing community organizations and encourage new efforts to create opportunities for civic involvement

Norwegian Ladies Chorus of Seattle is a non-profit organization that celebrates Norway's rich musical heritage through traditional and contemporary choral music. Chorus rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Leif Erikson Lodge in Ballard.

Taproot Theatre Company was founded in 1976 by six college graduates from Seattle Pacific University. From its humble beginnings as a touring group, the company has now become one of Seattle's largest mid-size theatre companies. Today, Taproot Theatre serves over 150,000 people annually throughout the Pacific Northwest with a full Mainstage season, touring programs and Acting Studio.
Live Girls! is a theater company dedicated to producing and developing new works by women since 1999.
The Ballard Historical Society was formed in 1988 with encouragement from the Ballard Centennial Committee in celebration of the Washington State Centennial in 1989. The Society is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization of volunteers committed to the research, preservation and public awareness of Ballard history.
The Ballard Avenue Landmark District was created by the Seattle City Council in 1976. Buildings throughout the District embody the distinctive characteristics of modest commercial architecture from the 1890s through the 1940s, creating a sense that the street is almost suspended in time. Visitors to this unique neighborhood will find boutiques, artists studios, and galleries side by side with manufacturers of fishing equipment and even a television studio.
