Half naked man flashes student near Denny Middle School

By Detective Renee Witt

A female student walking home from Denny Middle School noticed a man sitting half-naked inside a parked car at 2:30 p.m. Monday near Southwest Kenyon Street, police said.

The child told police she heard the suspect, described as a heavy Hispanic man, trying to get her attention. When the girl looked into the car she told police the man was touching his genitals and calling to her by saying, “pst, pst,” police said.

A police report says the suspect’s car door was wide open and the man was reclining in his seat.

The young girl immediately turned away and ran to a nearby home. When the child heard the suspect turn on his car, she then hid underneath a truck thinking the man was searching for her. The victim told police the suspect then fled the area.

Police were not able to locate the suspect or his car. The victim described the vehicle as a small or medium 4-door vehicle with tinted windows and was possibly missing the front grill.

Walkabout America: A journey of self discovery

Burien man is documenting his travels on YouTube as he journeys around America

Editors Note: Burien resident Bill Cullins has had many careers from sales, to service, always seeking to reinvent himself in an effort to learn more about himself and the world. He has now embarked on a Walkabout. A journey of self discovery which he is documenting on YouTube with videos that show where he is, who he has met, and what he has learned, as he travels across America.

By Bill Cullins

One day it just stuck me like a brick!

I am over 50! I was just 20, what just happened?
I have spoken to many friends who had the exact same experience. Yet as my good friend Jeff reminds me, 'Bill you don't know how good you have it.'

With minimal expenses, no stress, amazing health, lots of free time it does give one options. Yet not too long ago it was a far, far different experience. As life always does, it sent me a curve ball, but with the baseball bat first. Right to the back of my head.

During that difficult time one of my customers who loved to travel loaned me Charles Kuralt's "The Perfect Year" audio book.

Maritime Machine

Scott Anderson of CSR Marine talks shop

“We are a machine. We do pretty much everything.”

Those are the words of Scott Anderson, CSR Marine co-owner with Tim Ryan, describing the things his team of over 40 workers perform every day for their customers.

In lieu of a maritime economic study released last November, a profile of one of the community members working in the industry seemed appropriate. Anderson was kind enough to show the Ballard News Tribune around his boat yard located along Shilshole Avenue and in the waters of Salmon Bay. The BNT arrived just in time to see the CSR crew using a huge crane to ease a mast into a beautiful 39-foot R Boat named Pirate, flag ship of the wooden boat collection at the Center for Wooden Boats.

There’s a huge blue building that runs along Shilshole Avenue where beautiful boats rest like heaping whales. They look out of place being out of water and balanced on jack stands, awaiting anything from paint jobs to complete overhauls and custom fabrications.
