Final 'Shadow Cast' performance of Rocky Horror at the Admiral Theater Nov. 1

Nov. 1 will mark the final live shadow cast performance of the Vicarious Theater Company as they shadow cast The Rocky Horror Picture Show on the Admiral Theater stage.

The cast has performed at the theater for over ten years and many of the original cast members are still involved.

“We have enjoyed our time with the Vicarious Theater group immensely,” said theater Manager, Dinah Brein. They’ve been like a family to us. We’ve watched many of the cast members meet, fall in love and even get married from their time here at the Admiral. I think the only one that will be sorry to see them go is the janitor. That was a lot of rice and toast to clean up over 10 years. We could have probably fed a small country.”

Come say goodbye to the cast and catch the show, this Saturday night, November 1st. Doors open at 11:30 and the ticket price is $6.00 – cash only. (exact change preferred.)

You must be at least 17 or accompanied by an adult to attend as the pre-show and the movie are rated. R.

Kitchen Talk: Cranberries - Not Just for UTI

by Chef Jeremy Mclachlan

There are many great things about cranberries and one of the best is the health benefit that Kathy Kingen discusses in her food nutrition blog Red Goodies in a White Box. In my Kitchen Talk blog this month, I give you my favorite way to infuse this healthy wonderful fruit into your everyday life.

Salty's cranberries are locally grown in Long Beach, Washington (it's too late this year but next year watch for their CranberrIan Fair held every October). The cranberry can be used in many different culinary concoctions from savory to sweet and even the occasional cocktail. My favorite way to enjoy cranberries, besides on Thanksgiving, is with salmon.

Good For You: Cranberries - Red Goodies in a White Box

by Kathryn Kingen

I'm excited because this month my white cardboard box will arrive. It's an early Christmas present sent from my Aunt Diane. Thoughtfully each one of my siblings gets the same parcel and every year the question at hand is, "What are you going to do with yours this year?" Shake the white container and it sounds like a box of marbles, open it, and there lay hundreds of ravishing red, gorgeous round cranberries. It is time to cook up some chutneys, sauces and salads. I might roast, freeze, pulverize or dry them. I'll add them to sweets, combine them as savories with vegetables and meats or bake them into breads and cookies. It's so much fun and the possibilities are endless. (You'll want to give Chef Jeremy's Cranberry Chutney Recipe a try.) Uses for cranberries are not the greatest challenge; it's keeping them corralled in my kitchen since they roll around like sprung pinballs!

Foster Bulldogs shred Wolverines 26-0 to win playoff spot

by Ed Shepherd
Sports Correspondent

Two teams vying for one playoff spot, and, Foster just flat-out outplayed Evergreen for the post-season berth, beating a courageous but beaten Wolverines team, 26-0, in Seamount League action on the Bulldogs turf Friday night.

Foster goes to Olympic High School for its playoff game, in Bremerton, likely, Friday night, but, could be Saturday, as date and time are yet to be determined.

""It was what I thought it would be," said Foster head coach, Matt Leonard, leading his team to the playoffs in only his second season at the helm of the Bulldogs. "I thought we would have to grind it out. I would have liked to be scoring touchdowns more but scoring field goals was what we did."

Leonard's Bulldogs team slowly but surely put this game in the books, with a touchdown in the first quarter, a field goal in the second, a touchdown, and, a field goal in the third, and, a touchdown in the fourth.

But, despite the final lopsided score, hey, the Wolverines gave it a good go, fighting hard running the ball in the fourth quarter until the bitter end.
