#TELLTHESTORY fundraising and engagement campaign launched by ArtsWest

ArtsWest today launched a new community engagement campaign called Tell The Story that they say "allows our patrons and others in the community to engage with the stories we tell together and connect them to the process of getting a show on its feet." The branding carries the #TELLTHESTORY hashtag used in social media.

It's a fundraising campaign in which theater fans and others are asked to donate and help support the show or shows in our season with which they most connect.

"Their donation is a way to show their support of the stories they want to see told and in return we'll include them on the journey as each show takes shape. We want to cultivate a new audience with a stake in the art that we make," ArtsWest said in a press release.

Kitchen Talk: Corny people, corny jokes, corny recipes

By Chef Jeremy McLachlan

How do you eat corn on the cob? Being a chef I eat corn all different ways. I start with one row then I bite down and around the cob and finish off with random bites everywhere. So Dr. Kathy Kingen, What is my diagnosis? Read Kathy's blog Corncob Analytics so you too can look for the tell-tale signs of the various "attack styles" she outlines for you along with some corny nutrition. My kids seem to be following in my footsteps.

People who are close to me know that I love jokes and can tell some really good ones from time to time. I love jokes that are truly corny like:

How much does a pirate sell corn for? A buck-an-ear!
What did one ear of corn say to the other? Don't look now but I think someone is stalking us!
How is an ear of corn like an army? It has lots of kernels!

I truly love corn because it adds a much-needed sweetness to any dish. The dish I want to share with you this month is my famed Cowboy Caviar. It is a great topper for chicken or fish. Serve it as a salsa for chip dipping. Add it to lettuce to create an unforgettable salad.

By Kathryn Kingen

Just when you think you know all there is about a cob, you find out it knows a kernel more about you! In fact eating good old corn on the cob can be one of the most self-revealing things you ever do. Forget the Freudian theories, just serve up a pile of corn and watch how everyone goes at it. Eating attack styles will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about personalities. It's all in the technique.

Shooting at SeaTac motel leaves one dead one injured

Information from King County Sheriff

King County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday night around 10:00 at the Motel 6 in the 18900 block of 47 Ave S.

Deputies initially responded to a 911 call at the motel where a man said he was shot in the back as he got out of the shower.

When deputies arrived they found a man in the parking lot dead from an apparent gunshot. Deputies were also contacted by the man who had been shot while getting out of the shower.

The deceased victim was in town with two co-workers working on a construction project and all three were staying in the motel while the job was in progress. The co-workers told police the victim was arguing with the suspect in the parking lot. During the argument the suspect pulled a gun and fired at least two shots striking the victim in the chest. A stray bullet went into an occupied room and struck the other man in the back.
