Saints victorious in all-Lutheran battle

The Saints of Seattle Lutheran High School in West Seattle came from behind to beat Evergreen Lutheran of Puyallup, 44-42, in SeaTac B League football action at the Lincoln Bowl in Tacoma on Saturday.

Seattle Lutheran trailed the Eagles, 20-8, at the end of the first quarter and was still down by 12 at 34-22 at halftime before storming back for the win in the second half.

The Saints improved to 2-0 in league action with the win, tying them for first place with Tacoma Baptist.

Seattle Lutheran will host the same Tacoma Baptist team at 1 p.m. Saturday at West Seattle Stadium with the title likely on the line.
Evergreen Lutheran and Quilcene are tied at 1-1.

The Saints stand at 3-2 overall while Tacoma Baptist boasts a 6-0 overall record.

Quilcene, a team that Seattle Lutheran hosts at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, is 4-1 overall.

Seattle Lutheran and its opponents play eight-man (Class B-8) football.

Kelemete plays on MNF

Yes, that was Evergreen graduate Senio Kelemete who had his name on his back show up for the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football this week in their loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
Kelemete is in his fourth National Football League season as an offensive lineman.

Kela, Rangers clinch title

Chief Sealth graduate Keone Kela and the Texas Rangers clinched the American League West title this year, then added home field advantage throughout the American League playoffs with a win on Friday.
Kela has a 5-1 record coming out of the bullpen for the Rangers and 44 strikeouts in 33 innings pitched over 34 games. He has an earned run average of 6.27 in an injury and surgery shortened season.

Barnette shines with 2.09 ERA

Thomas Jefferson graduate Tony Barnette also plays for the Rangers this season and has a sparkling 2.09 earned run average over 60.1 innings in 53 games. Barnette has recorded 49 strikeouts coming out of the bullpen.

A Land use application has been filed (project number 3023707) to allow four, three-story single family residences to be constructed in an environmentally critical area at 5201 Delridge Way SW.

Surface parking for four vehicles would be provided. Existing structures would be demolished. The environmental review includes future unit lot subdivision.

The owner is KIRK Vanlandeghen and his company Restructure, LLC.

Police Blotter Week of 10-10-16

Garage burglary on 36th Avenue S.W.

Police were dispatched to the 7300 block of 36th Avenue S.W. just before 5 p.m. on Tues., Oct. 4 to investigate a burglary to a garage. The victim said he parked his car in front of his house around 6 p.m. the previous evening. Then at 8 a.m. the next day, the man returned to his car and found that someone had broken in and stolen a garage door opener, as well as loose change and a Discovery Pass.

The suspect then used the garage door opener to take a number of items from the garage, including a bicycle, a toolbox and tools, and gun ammunition magazines. Officers tried to find fingerprints but were unsuccessful.

Attempted entry on Sylvan Way S.W.

A woman reported that someone had attempted to enter her home, located on the 6500 block of Sylvan Way S.W., around 4:12 p.m. on Fri., Sept. 30. She told police that four or five days earlier, she noticed pry marks on her front door near the lock. She also found that the screen on her front window was pulled off and bent. Officers photographed the damage but were unable to take any fingerprints.
