UPDATE: Election 2019- Herbold now the clear winner in District 1 City Council vote

Strauss now clearly the winner over Wills in Ballard; Two Des Moines City Council races are still tight

Update 3:50pm Nov. 8

With more than 50% of the vote counted Lisa Herbold was well over the top for victory with 18,460 votes over Phil Tavel who garnered 14,764 in the District 1 Seattle City Council race.

Dan Strauss in Ballard's District 6 with nearly 54% counted had earned 21,889 votes to opponent's Heidi Wills total of 17,275.

In Des Moines the City Council Position 2 race JC Harris lead over Luisa Bangs shrank to just 69 votes with 37% of the vote totalled so the lead could easily change. 

Also in Des Moines Position No. 6 finds Anthony Martinelli grew his slim margin to a 112 vote lead over Rob Back.

Update 5:40pm Nov. 7

Incumbent Lisa Herbold has extended her lead over challenger Phil Tavel in the District 1 Seattle City Council race. Herbold in the latest count has 13,330 votes for  53.53% of the vote to Tavel's 11,482 votes or 46.11 %.

Two arrests made in Burien vandalism case

 Burien Police detectives arrest two suspects for a vandalism incident involving apparent gang graffiti

Detectives caught two suspects in the act of tagging at Chelsea Park in Burien this morning about 11 a.m.  One suspect is 19 years old, the other is 17 and was in possession of a handgun.  The 17-year-old has other firearms-related charges pending. Both suspects were arrested and booked into jail.

Based on the style and language of the graffiti investigators believe these two are responsible for the majority of the tagging that has occurred in the area of SW 136th Street and Ambaum recently.  There was a significant increase in activity over the past week including five separate incidents reported over the weekend, resulting in thousands of dollars in property damage.

New Puget Sound Emergency Services tower installed near Myrtle Reservoir

Part of the Puget Sound Emergency Services Network the tower is larger and able to accommodate more equipment for a new digital network upgrade

If you have driven up 35th Ave SW in West Seattle you've come to the highest point in the City of Seattle, Highpoint, some 510 feet above sea level. It's the logical place to install a communications tower and more than 20 years ago a tower was installed there. On Wednesday, Nov. 6, following some weeks of preparation a new, much larger tower was installed as part of an upgrade to the Puget Sound Emergency Radio Network or PSERN.
