Stolen car from SeaTac ends up in collision near White Center; Three teens arrested

King County Sheriff's Office deputies have three persons detained after a stolen vehicle crashed near the intersection of SW 107th and 26th Ave SW on Monday afternoon. Detectives remain on-scene for this active investigation. 

A pregnant woman in SeaTac was the victim of a car theft on Dec. 5th, according to King County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Tim Meyer. The car was the same one one involved in the crash. Police responded to the collision Monday around 3 p.m.

Three suspects involved, all teenagers were arrested. Two people were transported to Harborview Medical Center but their injuries were non life threatening.

One suspect ran from the scene, but police quickly captured him. The sheriff's office said all injuries were due to the collision. Gunshots were fired during the incident but no one was injured by them.

Dramatic spike in car theft happening on the westside says SPD

Major increase since May

West Seattle Neighbors: the Southwest Precinct has seen a dramatic spike in auto theft in West Seattle over the past 28 days: a 62% increase (that’s 31 more stolen cars) than at this time last year. 

Most of those thefts were of vehicles parked on the street.

When I grow up, I'd like to be a sportswriter. Sportswriting is the best job on a newspaper. It gives you freedom that reporters who cover city hall or state government never have.

The city hall reporter has to post a standard lede (opening paragraph) with details spelled out using the Five Double U's: who, what, when, where and why. Check out this recent city hall lede: "The Seattle city council today adopted a $6.5 billion spending plan for 2021, but decided to trim an additional $2 million from the police budget."

Just the fact, folks. Interesting, but dull. And look at the luke-warm verbs: "adopted," "decided." Not the least bit colorful.

Five story 132 "sleeping room" apartment coming to 15th NW in Ballard


A Land Use Application has been filed with the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections to allow a 5-story, 7-unit congregate residence with 132 sleeping rooms and 4 live-work units to be built at 5011 15th NW in Ballard. No parking is proposed. The existing building will be demolished. Early design guidance is conducted under 3032087-EG

The project has been in process since 2018 and is called PONTE and is being designed by Hybrid Architecture in Seattle.

It's been the subject of public meetings and has been through some design review board changes since the first submission.
