Tim's View: I never got an "A"

by Tim Robinson

All through elementary, junior and senior high school, I dreaded report cards. Student achievement was based on letter grades. A for excellent work and B for pretty damn good. C was average, while D was below average and F was failing.

I wasn’t a bad student. I thought I had good skills in all areas. But I had a great fear of failing. If I had drawn a simple vertical line to  change an “F” to make it an "A" on my midterm card., it would have earned me $5 from my parents .

I had plenty of "C" grades, a number of "B" grades in classes I truly enjoyed, like biology and speech.

I was very excited about wood and metal shop. I made some odd things, like a shoebox for dad,  a wood duck with aluminum wings. Metal chains and rings, etc. I received a "C" in both iclasses. My brother Ken made an elaborate  table that ws put on display at the school in his wood shop class.   He got an "A".

SPS and SEA agree to new timeline

information from Seattle Public Schools

It is in the best interest of our students, staff, and families that Seattle Public Schools (SPS) and Seattle Education Association (SEA) are unified in our approach to a return to in-person learning. We are committed to returning students receiving special education services in Intensive Service Pathways and our youngest learners to classrooms first. We are partnering to ensure equity and safety across our school buildings as we continue to plan our phased-in approach to in-person learning.

Researching the mystery of West Seattle eagles

'Bey' still needs your help but is recovering nicely

By Kersti E. Muul

Conservation Scientist/Specialist and Community Naturalist

To help solve the mystery of which nest 'Bey' and 'Jay' possibly belong to, I have been working with amazing observers from the Alki and Schmitz park neighborhoods; residents who are familiar with the Schmitz nest pair, and the Salty's pair. They have been invaluable, sending me photographs, sightings and observations, both recent and historic. This has helped me understand their ranges, perches, hunting territories, nest site fidelity, and nesting success.

EDITORS NOTE: An eagle named 'Bey' was seen to be sick and was humanely captured and taken to PAWS to be cared for and treated. Bey is now on the mend. The story of her capture is here.
