Marijo Neitro Hudson

Marijo Hudson, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home in San Rafael, CA on April 14, 2021, following a courageous six-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Fauntleroy, WA to Marguerite (Meg) and Jack Neitro, she was a proud graduate of West Seattle High School, class of 1955, and later attended Washington State University. After her first marriage to Robert Steele ended in divorce in 1978, she enjoyed a twenty-three-year long marriage to Gerald Hudson, who predeceased her in 2008.

Affordable housing with a potential hospital for West Seattle discussed at WSTP Board meeting; Decision now likely coming in October

Meeting minutes show a $4 million difference in appraised value for parking lot properties in the Junction; Potential remains for parking to be preserved regardless of how properties are developed

According to  the most recently released meeting minutes of the West Seattle Trusteed Properties Board on April 30 the question of what to do about a $14,490,000 offer to buy the parking lot land in the West Seattle Junction was a hot topic. The question boils down to whether or not to favor affordable housing with a potential for a non-profit hospital for West Seattle (marking the return of an actual medical center here in well over 30 years) or to allow another developer to pursue housing development.

Summer street use permit opportunities to support neighborhood activation announced

information from the City of Seattle

To encourage residents and businesses to use Seattle’s streets this summer, Mayor Jenny A. Durkan and the Seattle Department of Transportation shared information about existing and upcoming free Street Use permits starting in June. With current and upcoming free permitting options, residents can make space in their neighborhoods for play and communal activities such as barbecues and block parties. And the recent extension of the Safe Street permits offers restaurants, retail stores, and others a terrific opportunity to increase their capacity by using the curb space or sidewalk during the warm summer months.

Dashcam captures frightening hit and run on Roxbury

Jennifer Vong was headed eastbound on Roxbury Street SW on May 31 at about 6:30pm. She normally has a dashcam running in her car capturing video both coming and going.

This time it was truly frightening.

Traveling in the inside lane, see saw a white sports car veer out of the westbound traffic, cross in the far westbound lane, then swerve to avoid what could have been a head on collision with her car. Instead the white car with a male driver a passenger delivered a heavy, glancing blow damaging both vehicles.

She posted the results on Facebook.

From the style of the vehicle it appears to be a Nissan 350Z, white with a convertible top. It has damage now to the right front of the car.

Vong filed a police report and is seeking leads. If you recognize the driver or vehicle you are urged to call 911.
