SDOT shares new West Seattle Bridge progress video

While no final reopening date for the West Seattle Bridge has been set, the Seattle Department of Transportation still says mid 2022. Just for the record, that actual date, the middle of the year would be July 2 as the 183rd day of the year. But SDOT is not offering that level of precision just yet.

What they are doing however is continuing to document their work progress with regard to both the specialized concrete pours (recently resumed due to a lengthy concrete truck drivers strike which is still unresolved), and carbon fiber wrapping being applied inside the massive bridge girders. Also being done is more epoxy crack filling, not to directly strengthen the bridge but to seal the cracks so moisture cannot get to the steel rebar inside.

In their latest video they show this work plus drilling of holes through which additional post tensioned steel cabling will run providing added strength.

The victim was uninjured, and he had nothing taken from him. Evidence showed three unknown masked males ducked behind vehicles in the parking lot, appearing to stalk the victim prior to his entry into the store.

The males surrounded the victim and attempted to grab the victim as he ran past them into the store.

The males then got into a nearby parked black passenger vehicle and fled the scene.

SDOT Monday Bridge update: West Seattle Bridge construction crews pour structural concrete

information from Seattle Department of Transportation

This past weekend, our crews poured specialized concrete that will strengthen the West Seattle Bridge.

We’ll use this structural concrete for block structures inside the bridge to hold the new steel cables for the improved post-tensioning system. This will further strengthen the bridge beyond the emergency repairs completed last year.

Welcome back to West Seattle Design Contest asking for your ideas

Call for art submissions needs to be in soon

The plans to put together a celebration of the reopening of the West Seattle Bridge, now looking more likely for this summer, are coming together.

A walk/run is being planned, a website using the title WestSeattleBestSeattle.org is being developed and a promotional video is being prepared. Other local events will be up to each neighborhood at this point. But the first part of these plans is to get a design and slogan done that will be carried forward on all the materials being prepared. Time is tight so the call is out to local artists for submissions, sent by Chris Mackay Executive Director of the West Seattle Junction Association.
