Hot Wheels show in White Center features more than 30 thousand cars

April 2, from 1 to 7 pm at White Center Eagles Hall

If you ever played with Hot Wheels cars, or had kids that have this event is for you. 

The PNW Hot Wheels Convention and Car Show is on from 1pm to 7pm at the White Center Eagles hall located at 10452 15th SW. Parking is limited so plan accordingly.

The event will feature more than 30,000 1/64 scale diecast cars, from 25 vendors. 

The entry is $3 but kids 10 and under are free. 

A car show with prizes is also part of the event. 

You can expect to relive your childhood or see these remarkable creations for the first time.

HERBOLD: Bridge repair update; Scheduled concrete deliveries coming soon

District 1 City Councilmember Lisa Herbold shared this update on the repairs going on at the West Seattle Bridge

The work to attain the specialized concrete needed for the guiding and anchoring the steel cables for the West Seattle Bridge has continued this week.

The most recent update is that, on Monday, Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) Materials Laboratory approved the concrete mix design, a necessary step before concrete can be delivered.  Kraemer, the West Seattle Bridge repair contractor, is now trying to schedule deliveries from Cadman.   When the concrete is delivered, the SPU Materials Lab will be on site testing and taking samples to assure SDOT that the quality of the delivered concrete is up to standard and suitable for the task.

SDOT has announced it will be carrying out several road projects over the weekend, as follows:

Miriam Jackson Curran

Miriam Jackson Curran passed away peacefully January 14, 2022, three weeks after celebrating her 100th birthday.  Born in Westchester County, New York, she lived as a child on a sprawling nursery owned and managed by her father.  She was a mischievous child with an insatiable curiosity and the instigator of many amusing schemes.  As a teenager, she turned her creative talents to art and theater.  She majored in Art at Skidmore College, graduating in 1943.

 

Loop the Lupe offers lots of ways to participate in the fun June 4

Annual event supporting Our Lady of Guadalupe features a fun run, obstacle course, senior saunter and youth dash

The annual Loop the Lupe benefit event will take place at Walt Hundley Playfield in West Seattle on Saturday, June 4, in support of Our Lady of Guadalupe church. The event has grown to now offer something for everyone. A 5k Fun Run, an obstacle course race, a senior saunter, and a youth dash are all part of the event. Live music from West Seattle's School of Rock, a BBQ, a beer garden, and exhibitors are featured as well.
