West Seattle property values went up by as much as 18.4% last year

Taxpayers to receive valuation notices soon

The King County Assessor’s office has begun the annual process of mailing property valuation notices to taxpayers. Notices will be arriving in West Seattle soon. Median residential property values rose by 18.3% in West Seattle, and by 11.4% in North Central West Seattle.  

Data indicates that home sale prices and overall home values have risen sharply in most King Count neighborhoods and have dramatically spiked in northeast King County.

Boulevard Park will be rocking the block Aug. 13

Last year saw the first the efforts to bring some energy and life to the otherwise sleepy Boulevard Park neighborhood with a wildly successful Block Party. Headquarters again this year is the Flightpath Tavern but the music, vendors and action are mostly outside on the street and in the parking lot on August 13.

Road rage incident on Delridge Way ends with a gun shot

#2022-206618/Southwest Precinct/Third Watch: 

On 08-06-2022 at 11:02 pm, victims arrived at the Southwest precinct to report a road rage incident in which their vehicle was shot. They reported that a black Mercedes occupied by a male and female had been tail gating them northbound on Delridge WY SW until the intersection of SW Henderson Street.

The victim vehicle remained in the northbound lane at a red light, and the suspect vehicle pulled up in the left turn lane parallel to the victim vehicle.

The victim exchanged words with the driver of the suspect vehicle who drew a gun and shot once at the victim vehicle striking the B pillar. Suspect vehicle fled westbound on SW Henderson ST.

Fire sweeps through North Admiral home; No one injured

A fire broke out in a single family home in the 2600 block of 39th Ave SW shortly after 2 am on Aug. 7. 

Seattle Fire Department units responded to the blaze, which was on the first floor of the house. After getting control of the fire they did a search of the premises and area and found no injuries.

The incident is under investigation. No damage amount of cause of fire was released.

Car break in escalates to shooting; Victim taken to Harborview; Assailants at large

Information from Seattle Police Department

Police are investigating after a man was shot early Saturday morning in the North Admiral neighborhood of West Seattle.

Just after 2:00 a.m., a 911 caller reported a man had been shot near 42nd Avenue Southwest and Southwest Hill Street. Police arrived and found a 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the back. Officers began first aid and then transferred care to Seattle Fire Department medics, who transported the man to Harborview Medical Center.

According to the victim, he heard someone breaking into his car and went outside to investigate. When he confronted the two suspects, it escalated to a shooting.

Officers recovered evidence at the scene and will continue to investigate this incident.

Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal replacement project comments summary show concern for environment

The public comment summary on the options to replace the Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal are out from Washington State Ferries and the options are wide and varied.

In the summary they note:

"Vashon and Southworth ferry riders support expanding the dock to improve operational efficiency and performance. Commenters specifically mention eliminating long lines along Fauntleroy Way, maintaining the sailing schedule and making it more efficient to load and unload the ferry. West Seattle residents expressed concern about how the project would impact Cove Park, the surrounding ecosystem and the neighborhood.

WSF received a total of 477 comments through the online open house, community meetings, and by email between May 18 and June 13, 2022."
