December 2022

Slideshow offers a look back at some highlights from 2022

Over the course of every year, there are events and moments, as they unfold that are more easily captured on camera than others. Some are fleeting, some whose sources remain quiet, some are seen because of invitations or a high public awareness, and others that are largely private. Covering the news and events inevitably means some will be missed, and others likely given too much attention. Nonetheless, here's a look back at 2022 through the lens of photographer Patrick Robinson. It's part of the new YouTube Channel,

True Value Hardware victim of smash and grab burglary attempt

Suspects did not get much, and store will reopen after clean up

Junction True Value Hardware was the victim of a smash and grab burglary attempt at approximately 4 am on Dec. 31.

Three suspects, according to the store, smashed out the glass doors and gained entry but did not get much. "Just a case of Reeses Peanut Butter cups" said a store employee. They attempted to take a Stihl Power Blower but it was tethered and they left it behind.

The security cameras captured the crime but the footage is grainy.  This is the third incident at True Value Hardware this year including one in which someone was found hiding in the store at closing time.

It's also the latest in a string of smash and grab incidents including one at Big 5 Sporting Goods at Westwood Village a few weeks ago and one at Menashe Jewelers in the West Seattle Junction last week.

The store said they are planning to clean up the damage, board up the door and reopen.

Safety for the traveling public is our number one priority. To keep our bridges safe, we continuously perform basic bridge maintenance including regular inspections, monitoring, preservation, and repairs. We also complete bridge earthquake retrofits and occasionally replace bridges, like the recent Levy to Move Seattle-funded Fairview Ave N Bridge Replacement Project.
