City of Burien seeking people to serve on an advisory board, commission, or committee

Information from the City of Burien

Community members are invited to apply to participate on advisory boards, commissions, and committees. There are currently 25 open positions on various advisory boards. Appointments are made by the City Council. Terms of service are four years.

Applications are due Friday, January 27, 2023 at 5 p.m. and are available in English and Spanish.

Advisory boards, commissions, and committees are an essential way for local governments to engage community members in the democratic process. They study issues important to the community, take in public testimony, perform independent research, and review staff reports and recommendations. The advisory boards then are able to discuss, analyze, formulate, and forward well-developed, thoughtful recommendations to the City Council.

Building rammed in another crash and grab

Information from the Seattle Police Department

#2022-329753/Southwest Precinct/First Watch:

On 12-10-2022 at 4:45am, a call originally came in regarding a commercial alarm call involving multiple sensor trips.

The call was then updated by witnesses that a vehicle was seen backing up and repeatedly ramming the store front.

Two suspects exited the vehicle and entered the business and exited shortly after. The vehicle fled prior to officers’ arrival. An officer observed a vehicle matching the description heading southbound from the scene.

The vehicle had no plates and took off at a high rate of speed. It appeared that only the register area and office of the business were targeted, as other merchandise throughout the business was not disturbed and money was the only thing taken.

There was a burglary at this location in October.
