Construction of the Terminal 5 Quiet Zone has begun. SDOT’s project page has a list of what to expect during construction:

White Center's own Future Primitive Brewing has opened in a new tap room on Alki Beach at 2536 Alki Ave SW. They will be open from 11am to 10 pm seven days a week.

You can see their full range of beers here...there are twelve on the current list and you can even get a "slushee" at their White Center location.

Food is available at Future Primitive too.

Lotus on the Beach is the new restaurant coming to Alki Beach in the former Pegasus Pizza location at 2768 Alki Ave SW. 

They are aiming at a Jan. 2 opening, pending renovation and permitting.

Already the owner of Alki Pho, Lynda Nguyen, will serve Asian Fusion cuisine and will seat about 65 people. 

Asian Fusion typically uses traditional Asian-style ingredients, dishes and techniques that then combines flavor and ingredients you might find in traditional Mexican, American or other Asian-style dishes. 

Lotus on the Beach will have a full bar and also offer "a small bubble tea" area so people can take it to the new and nearby Alki Arcade. 

Nguyen said, "I asked my interior designer to make it very modern and welcoming. I think they did a great job and I'm excited to bring this to Alki."

It's so new that they are still working on a logo that will combine purple (the color of the Lotus flower) with green.

After a national search and formal interviews with three highly qualified finalists, the Seattle Colleges Board of Trustees has selected Dr. Rosie Rimando-Chareunsap as its chancellor. Dr. Rimando-Chareunsap’s permanent role becomes official on Aug. 3, 2023.

“Dr. Rimando-Chareunsap has led Seattle Colleges over the past year – first as acting and then as interim chancellor – with courage, skill and profound passion for students, faculty, staff and our Seattle community,” said Board Chair Louise Chernin. “Our organization was honored to have three stellar candidates for the permanent role, and it is our great fortune to be able to benefit from Dr. Rimando-Chareunsap’s unifying leadership and big-picture perspective going forward.”
