A woman was assaulted by a man she agreed to give a ride home from a wedding. The victim said that she attended her boyfriend’s brother’s wedding on June 11th with her boyfriend, nieces, and nephew. A friend of the bride and groom asked her for a ride home. She agreed to drive him from the wedding in Lake Forest Park to his home in Renton. On the way home she stopped at her apartment to settle the nieces and nephew there first. The victim went into her bedroom for a few minutes. She said that the suspect then knocked on the door and asked to be driven home. She told him that she would be ready to leave in five minutes. The victim said that the suspect knocked on the door several more times and she told him each time that she would take him home in five minutes.
The victim said that when she came out of the room to drive the suspect home, he grabbed her and shoved her into the nearby closet door and bathroom door. The doors broke from the force of his blows. The victim said that the suspect also tried to choke her. She said that somehow the toilet bowl broke during the struggle and spilled water over the bathroom floor, but she could not remember how this happened. The victim’s boyfriend pulled the suspect off of her and the suspect then ran out of the apartment. The victim followed him and saw him heading south on Greenwood Ave. The suspect was not found in the area. The victim said that she had no idea why the suspect acted this way and that his behavior was a complete surprise to her.

A man arrived at his storage unit at the Shilshole Marina on June 11th to find that the lock had been changed since his last visit there on June 9th. He used a hammer to break the lock and when he opened the storage unit he found his lock lying on a shelf inside, apparently cut with bolt cutters. A toolkit had been stolen from the unit. Another tenant of the marina previously reported that his own storage unit, which is located across from the victim’s, was burglarized on June 9th and that his tools had also been stolen. One of the victims believes the two burglaries may have been committed by a worker at the marina. Police recovered nine fingerprints from the scene.
6:05 p.m. on June 9th. 46th block of 15th Ave NW
A woman was returning to her car on the evening of June 9th when she saw a man prying at the rear driver’s side door with a screwdriver. She yelled and ran toward him. He then smashed the window, reached in, and grabbed her backpack. The victim swore at the suspect and tried to take her backpack back. The struggle continued and the victim was dragged to the suspect’s vehicle, still holding onto the backpack. The suspect then got into the driver’s seat of his car and began to drive away. At this point the victim let go of the backpack and tried to chase the suspect on foot.
A witness stated that he heard the victim screaming and saw her running after the suspect’s car. The witness followed the suspect’s vehicle to 8th Ave NW and NW 65th St but was unable to get a license plate number.
The victim recovered the screwdriver that the suspect used to pry at her car and it was submitted for fingerprint analysis.
