A woman called 911 at 3:50 a.m. on July 18th to report that someone had broken into her house about half an hour before and stolen her car. There were also reports of another burglary nearby on NW 95th St that occurred at about the same time. While officers were on the way to the scene, a report of a prowler at N 100th and Phinney Ave N came in. The description of the suspect’s car matched the description of the victim’s stolen car.
Officers arrived at the victims’ residence and found a bag of tools and an unopened bottle of beer lying in the driveway near a broken window screen. The victims said that the beer and tools were not theirs. One victim reported that he slept through the burglary. His mother said that she heard noises but assumed that it was her son. When she realized that her son was still asleep, she woke him and they found that their wallets were missing. A digital camera was also taken, and a set of car keys may have been stolen as well. The victims did not hear their car drive away.
At 6:13 on the same morning, a 911 call came in about a car accident on 1st Ave NE, in which an idling vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle. The idling vehicle was determined to be the victims’ car. It was impounded for evidence.
7:26 p.m. on July 16th. 54th block of Leary Ave NW
A staff member at a Ballard retirement home called police to report that a resident’s pain medication had been stolen, and the victim suspected a former staff member. The resident told police that five or six bottles of prescription narcotics, each containing 100 pills, had been stolen. The victim said that she always locks her apartment door when she goes out and that she had not had any scheduled visits to her room during the time when the burglary occurred. The only person who had come was a close friend.
The victim and her friend told police that other thefts had occurred a few months ago and a staff member had abruptly stopped working there around the same time. They believe he was fired. One of them also reported that another resident had seen the former staff member in the building recently. The victim said that the suspect had assisted her in the past and knew that she possessed narcotics.
The front desk staff told police that the suspect had quit his job after being confronted over the earlier thefts. They said that management had documentation showing that the suspect had stolen medication from residents. They told police his last name, and police found a likely match in their database. The person in question is a convicted felon.

Four men were caught on surveillance cameras as they burglarized a delicatessen on NW 80th St. Three of the suspects removed a window and entered the deli, and the fourth served as a lookout. One suspect stole cigars and cigarettes as the other two ran through the store. Then all of them suddenly ran out of the deli the way they had entered. All of the suspects wore dark clothing with hoods and scarves over their faces.

A man at a bar was assaulted by a man with whom he had just had a friendly conversation. The victim was at a bar on the night of July 16th. He went outside to smoke and noticed a man standing nearby. He said the two of them chatted pleasantly for a few minutes, then he went back into the bar. The suspect then came inside and threw a glass bottle at the back of the victim’s head. The force shattered the bottle. The victim briefly lost consciousness and the suspect fled the scene in a dark blue Lincoln.
The victim received a two inch cut on his head and was treated at the scene. Police spoke with bar staff, who said that the victim had done nothing to provoke the attack. The bar owner told police that the bar had surveillance cameras and she would able to get a DVD of the incident.
The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center for further treatment. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male. He was not found in the area.

A woman arrived home shortly after 9:00 on the night of July 14th to find that her bedroom had been rummaged through and her jewelry was missing. The responding officer found a basement window that showed evidence of tampering. The burglar likely used a screwdriver to pry the window open and enter the house. A fresh footprint was found under the window. Several fingerprints were found in the bedrooms and bathroom. The suspect appeared to have taken jewelry and medication. The victim also found a silver cross that she believed belonged to the suspect because she did not recognize it. Police believe it was ripped from the suspect’s clothing.
