Police Blotter: Masked burglar arrested; numerous burglaries in Ballard; violent robbery in Fremont; jaywalking incident leads to argument, assault

9:30 p.m. on October 24th. 90th block of Greenwood Ave N
Residents at a Greenwood apartment answered a knock at the door on the night of October 24th to find a masked man who implied that he was armed. One of the residents recognized the man as an acquaintance. The suspect entered the apartment and took several electronic devices, then left in a waiting vehicle. Police later located the vehicle several blocks away, but the suspect was not in it.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on October 26th, a North Precinct officer observed the suspect with a female at the 123rd block of 15th Ave NE and arrested the suspect. At the time of the arrest the suspect had a laptop and iPod similar to the devices that had been stolen. Officers also found that the suspect had a no-contact order with the female he was with at the time of his arrest. The suspect, 33, was booked in King County Jail on charges of robbery and violation of a no-contact order.
5:45 p.m. on October 22nd. 65th block of Earl Ave NW
A man called police on the evening of October 22nd to report that his ex-wife’s house had been burglarized. He said that he was at the house with their son, a minor, while his ex-wife was out of town. The complainant and his son found that a window had been left open and a laptop and some jewelry had been taken. No fingerprints were found at the scene. The complainant and his son said that they had not seen anyone suspicious in the neighborhood recently.
4:16 a.m. on October 22nd. 92nd block of 15th Ave NW
A Ballard-area school was burglarized early on the morning of October 22nd. The school security arrived at the scene to find that the window on the rear door to the computer room had been broken. A piece of cinder block was found in the room and it appeared that four computers had been stolen. The responding officer found one of the missing monitors in the dugout of the baseball field. There was one fingerprint on the monitor.
9:07 p.m. on October 21st. Greenwood Ave N and N 39th St
Police responded to reports of a street robbery in Fremont on the night of October 21st. The victim said that she was walking to a 7-11 when the suspect came up behind her, pushed her to the ground, and robbed her. The suspect took her state ID card, credit card, and keys from her sweatshirt pocket, but then dropped the keys and ran off southbound on Greenwood Ave N.
The victim hit the back of her head on the sidewalk when she was pushed down, but she did not lose consciousness. She described the suspect as a white male about 5’8” in height with a medium to stocky build and wearing a dark sweatshirt with the hood up.
The victim was escorted to her home and said that she would find a friend to take her to the hospital. The suspect was not found in the area.
12:15 p.m. on October 21st. 26th block of NW 64th St
A woman returned home to find that her back door had been kicked in. The burglar stole about $2.00 in change as well as the victim’s wedding and engagement rings. The rings had belonged to the victim’s grandmother and have a combined value of approximately $700. No fingerprints were found at the scene.
8:30 a.m. on October 21st. 100th block of Dibble Ave NW
A man called police to report that his home had been burglarized and the only missing item was a pillowcase. The burglar gained entry by removing a window screen and climbing in through the window. The victim came home to find that nothing had been disturbed and the only missing item appeared to be a pillowcase.
11:57 p.m. on October 18th. 8th Ave NW and NW 65th St
A man called police late on the night of October 18th to report that a man had pulled a knife on him. The suspect was described as a white male 5’10” in height, 180 lbs, with a handlebar mustache and wearing dark denim clothing.
The victim said that he was driving west on 65th St when a man jaywalked right in front of him. He said that he and the man got into an argument over the incident, and the suspect punched him in the face. The suspect then walked around the victim’s vehicle and tore off the passenger side window. The victim reported that the suspect then pulled out a knife, opened it in a threatening manner, and walked away. The victim followed the suspect to Dibble Ave NW, where the suspect hid in some bushes.
The victim had no visible facial injuries and refused medical assistance. He said that he had never met the suspect before and had no idea who he was. The suspect was not found in the area.
The victim later called police to report that his left front tire was flat and that he believed the suspect had slashed his tire.
