1:37 a.m. on March 17th. 73rd block of 15th Ave NW

Police investigated a burglary at a Ballard tattoo parlor after an alarm that monitored basement motion went off. They arrived at the business to find the rear door open and a nearby window broken. The suspect appeared to have entered through the window and left through the door. Police found no signs that the suspect had rummaged through anything, and there were expensive electronics, computers, and tattoo equipment in plain view.

Damage was found on the rear porch, indicating that a vehicle or something large had collided with the porch with enough force to shove the porch railing four inches out of position. No tire marks or footprints were found in the area. Three fingerprints were found on the broken window. Police expected to gain access to security footage in the coming days.

6:00 p.m. on March 15th. 8th block of NW 52nd St

A woman returned home on the evening of March 15th to find that her home had been burglarized. The victim said that the screen to her roommate’s bedroom had been removed and the window was open. The bedrooms in the apartment had been ransacked, and the burglar stole numerous items, including a cup of coins, but did not take larger items such as a laptop or television. The rest of the apartment appeared to be undisturbed. Fingerprints were found on the open window and on a hard drive the suspect had moved.

2:54 a.m. on March 13th. 77th block of 15th Ave NW

Police responded to reports of tire slashing and a physical fight in Ballard in the middle of the night on March 13th. The victim said that the suspect had attempted to puncture all of the tires on his truck. He confronted the suspect, who was armed with a knife, and asked him what he was doing and whether he lived in the area. The victim said the suspect appeared to be drunk or under the influence of drugs. The suspect became aggressive and attacked the victim. The victim’s girlfriend gave him a broom to defend himself. He said he tried to fend off the knife and may have hit the suspect in the jaw. The victim then retreated to his trailer.

The victim had a swollen cut on his lip when police arrived, but he refused medical attention. He said the suspect was wearing a black leather jacket with a stenciled design on the back. Police found a blood spatter on one of the truck’s tires and took a swab for evidence.
