Police Blotter: Burglar targets tequila; Social media helps track burglar; Pair of robbers fails; Man punched in face by robber

11:42 a.m. on March 24th. 41st block of Greenwood Ave N
A man called police to report that his home had been burglarized between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on March 23rd, and the burglar had targeted his liquor cabinet. The suspect entered through a rear window and stole $35 worth of tequila. Some coins were also stolen from a jar, and the jar was submitted for fingerprint analysis. Nothing else was taken.
7:44 p.m. on March 22nd. 70th block of 21st Ave NW
Two people called police to report that their home had been burglarized between 11:10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on March 22nd. The suspect entered the residence through a sliding basement window. There was a plastic dowel in the sliding track, but the suspect forced the window open and bent the dowel. The suspect rummaged through the kitchen, office, and bedroom, and stole several items, including computers. One of the victims found the back door open when he returned, indicating that the suspect left through this door. Fingerprints were found on the basement window.
The victims later reported that someone had logged onto facebook and played a game using one of the stolen computers. The victims had synced some of their computers and so were able to track the stolen one. They found the suspect’s email and facebook username.
2:50 p.m. on March 22nd. 86th block of 8th Ave NW
A man called police on the afternoon of March 22nd to report that he had been the victim of an attempted robbery. The victim said the two suspects blocked his path and demanded his wallet. One of them threatened to use a gun if the victim did not comply. The victim did not believe that the suspects had a gun, so he did not give them his wallet and tried to walk away. The suspects attempted to take the victim’s wallet but were unsuccessful, and they left the scene. The victim was not injured and nothing was stolen. He told police that he had just withdrawn money from an ATM in a nearby store. Police checked the surveillance video, which showed the victim but not the suspects.
5:00 p.m. on March 21st. 92nd block of 15th Ave NW
Police responded to reports of a strong arm robbery on the evening of March 21st. The victim said he had taken the bus from Northgate Mall to a stop on the 92nd block of 15th Ave NW and then walked along 15th. He said that an unknown male approached him from behind and ordered the victim not to turn around and to give up all of his possessions. The victim turned around, and the suspect punched him in the face, stole his hat, and fled the scene. The victim did not get a good look at the suspect but said that his voice sounded like a teenager’s voice. The victim was treated at the hospital and released.
9:38 p.m. on March 19th. 87th block of 1st Ave NW
A burglar stole numerous items from a residence that the owners were in the process of moving out of. The victims told police that they stopped by the residence on the night of March 19th to find that the back door was open and the deadbolt plate had been loosened. The burglar stole a tool bag containing several tools, including an electric drill; four boxes of business checks; and a stainless steel watch. No fingerprints were found in the house.
