The Seattle Foundation is hosting another "GiveBig" campaign today, and several Ballard campaign could benefit from your donations.
Aiming to inspire people to give generously to nonprofit organizations, the May 2nd "GiveBIG" campaign is a one-day community-wide giving challenge to make our region a healthier and more vital place to live.
Each donation made to the more than 1,300 nonprofit organizations profiled on The Seattle Foundation's website between midnight and midnight (Pacific Time), will receive a pro-rated portion of the matching funds (or "stretch") pool.
The amount of the "stretch" depends on the size of the stretch pool and how much is raised in total donations on GiveBIG day. For example, if a nonprofit organization receives 3 percent of the total donations during GiveBIG, then it will receive 3 percent of the stretch pool.
KingCo residents can make contributions of any size through The Seattle Foundation’s online Giving Center, which includes information about the 1,300 nonprofit organizations that will benefit from this drive.
Some of the key issues of the GiveBIG campaign include afforable housing, transition from homelessness, and nutritious food. Other areas include environment, arts & culture, education, health & welness, neighborhoods, and the economy.
Ballard organizations include The Ballard Food Bank, Groundswell NW, Nordic Heritage Museum, Low Housing Income Institute, Swedish Medical Center Foundation, Ballard High School Foundation, Ghost Light Theatricals, and more.
