1:45 p.m. on April 22nd. NW 54th St and 9th Ave NW

Police responded to reports of a robbery at Gilman Playfield on the afternoon of April 22nd. The victim said that he and the suspect, a friend, had been having a dispute over the past few days. The victim said that he arrived at the playfield and the suspect was there. The suspect told the victim to stay four feet away from him, so the victim moved away. The victim said that he was reading the newspaper when the suspect came up and yelled at him, punched him in the forehead, and took his backpack. The backpack contained $90, a phone charger, and clothing. The suspect then left the scene in his vehicle. The victim told the responding officer that he was not injured. A witness at the playfield said that he saw the suspect take the backpack but did not see the suspect punch the victim.

2:31 a.m. on April 19th. 46th block of Shilshole Ave NW

Police responded to reports of a woman screaming “Get away from me” near the shipyard on Shilshole in the middle of the night on April 19th. They arrived at the scene and received a call from a man who said that a woman had jumped over a barbed-wire fence to get to his boat, and her hand was bleeding. Police spoke with the victim, who was crying and hysterical. The victim had cuts on her hands, neck, and knees; her clothes were bloody and she wasn’t wearing shoes. The victim said that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend’s best friend, who works on the same boat she does. She described the suspect as an Alaskan male with short black hair, 5’7” tall, with a medium build, and possibly wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.

The victim was treated at the scene by Seattle Fire and then taken to Swedish Hospital in Ballard, where she described the assault in more detail. She said that she and the suspect were drinking on the boat together and then decided to go to 7-Eleven to get more drinks. The victim was on her phone talking to her boyfriend, and she and the suspect started talking trash to each other, which she said was normal. Suddenly the suspect shoved the victim, and she dropped her phone. When she bent to pick it up, the suspect shoved her again, and she said that if he pushed her again, she would punch him. The suspect pushed her again, and she punched him in the arm. The victim decided to leave the suspect and tried to go back to the boat, but she got lost.

The victim later ran into the suspect again and asked him to call her boyfriend, but he didn’t let the call go through and pushed the victim to the ground. The suspect then began choking the victim and saying that he would kill her. The victim managed to get away, but the suspect caught her again. She begged the suspect to release her, but he did not, and her vision began to go blurry. She was eventually able to free herself and ran away, climbing the barbed-wire fence to escape the suspect.

Police located the suspect on a boat at the marina. He was very intoxicated and had blood on his hands. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and taken to the North Precinct. He was later booked in King County Jail on assault charges.
