Police responded to reports of a fight at the Ballard Commons Park on the night of June 25th. The responding officer arrived at the scene to find the victim, a white male, lying on the ground. The assailant, a black male, was standing shirtless near the victim. The officer ordered the assailant to sit on a bench, but the assailant did not comply. He was agitated and appeared to be intoxicated, and officers handcuffed him.
The victim had a large lump the size of a cue ball on his right eyebrow, and his lips were bleeding. He was too intoxicated to stand without assistance and could not describe what had happened to him. Seattle Fire treated the victim at the scene, and he was later taken to Harborview Medical Center.
A witness said that she had seen the victim and another man play wrestling in the park. The assailant seemed to think that the fight was real and intervened by drop-kicking the victim. The witness said that the assailant’s friend later kicked the victim while the victim was lying on the ground. A second witness confirmed the story. Both assailants were arrested. The second assailant admitted to kicking the victim twice in the face but claimed that the victim had hit her first. The officer could not observe any injury to the assailant’s face. The officer searched the assailant’s backpack and found two bottles of bourbon whiskey that had been stolen from a nearby Safeway. Both assailants were booked into King County Jail on assault charges.

She went outside and found one dozen of the roses in the compost heap. The rest were still missing, but nothing else seemed to have been taken. Police responded to reports of an assault along 85th St on the night of June 23rd. The victim was found at 3rd Ave NW and NW 85th St with lacerations on his head. He declined medical attention. The victim said that he had been a passenger on a Metro bus, and as soon as he got off, an unknown male approached him and began punching him in the head for no reason. He said that the suspect had been a passenger on the bus, but the two had not had any contact on the bus. The victim said that he followed the suspect after the attack and saw the suspect meet up with an older black female and enter an apartment complex. The victim was clearly intoxicated. He described the suspect as a black male in his 50s dressed in black. The suspect was not found in the area.
The officer spoke with a witness who had been on the same bus. The witness said that the suspect was a black male in his 50s wearing a blue windbreaker, blue jeans, and a baseball cap. The witness also said that the suspect and the victim had been calling insults to each other and egging each other on to fight while they were riding the bus. He said that when the bus reached the intersection, the suspect yelled, “Let’s get off here and do this!” When the two exited the bus, the suspect immediately grabbed the victim by the throat. The witness said that an unknown individual attempted to break up the fight but was unsuccessful. After this individual left, the suspect punched the victim in the head, knocking him to the ground.
