8:30 p.m. on July 9th. 101st block of Aurora Ave N

A passerby called police after discovering a dead man lying face down in the grass in a vacant lot behind a Chinese restaurant. Seattle Fire responded and confirmed the death of the victim, a 45-year-old male. Homicide Detectives responded to the scene but found no evidence of foul play. Autopsy results were pending at last report.

12:41 a.m. on July 8th. 95th block of 6th Ave NW

A man went to investigate after hearing strange popping noises outside his house shortly after midnight on July 8th. He saw shots from what appeared to be a pellet gun coming out of a white Lexus SUV and hitting his neighbor’s house. When the victim yelled at the occupant of the vehicle, an unknown male burst out from the passenger side and began shooting at the victim. The victim was shot twice in the chest before he was able to get inside his house, and the pellets left red marks.

The residence that was the suspect’s initial target is currently unoccupied and is owned by a bank. Neighbors said that two squatters had been living in the house, and when the victim told the bank about the individuals, the bank did not listen. The suspect’s vehicle was not found in the area.

12:30 a.m. on July 8th. NW 54th St and 32nd Ave NW

A man was taken to Swedish Hospital in Ballard after a parking pay station exploded near him. The victim said that he was walking in Ballard with a friend when they heard an explosion. He then saw that he had been hit in the arm and was bleeding. The victim and his friend got a ride to the hospital and the victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Arson & Bomb unit as well as Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene and determined that an explosive device had been attached to the pay station. The pay station suffered extensive damage, and police currently believe the incident was an act of vandalism gone awry.

8:17 a.m. on July 5th. 24th block of NW Market St

A contractor called police after the vacant building he was working on was burglarized during the 4th of July holiday. The suspect apparently drove a vehicle into a garage door, destroying the door and gaining entry. Several tools were stolen, including motorized buffers, generators, tool boxes, extension cords, a ladder, a can of gasoline, a box of duct tape and a pump. The value of these items is estimated at $3,500. No evidence was found at the scene.

2:00 a.m. on July 1st. N 85th St and Greenwood Ave N

A man approached police on the afternoon of July 3rd to report that he had been robbed in the middle of the night on July 1st. He said that he was approached by two white males in their 30s about 6 feet tall with muscular builds. One of the suspects ordered the victim to give up all of his possessions. The victim said that he gave up his wallet and cell phone at once because he had been injured when he was robbed several years ago. He said that neither suspect used force against him, but he believed that they would have if he had not complied. The victim’s wallet contained cash and several identification cards.
