2:05 p.m., July 24. 51st block of Leary Ave NW

Police responded to reports of an assault at a food bank on the afternoon of July 24. The victim said that he knocked on the bathroom door and a woman burst out, yelling and swearing at him. When the victim tried to go past the woman and enter the bathroom, the woman’s boyfriend came up and hit him from behind with an unknown item. The victim had a bandaged head and blood on his shirt when he spoke to police. He said he had never seen the woman or her boyfriend before.

A witness confirmed that the suspect had hit the victim and threatened him. The suspect is described as a black male in his late 30s with short hair, 5’11” and about 175 lbs. He was wearing a brown shirt and blue jeans. His girlfriend is described as a white female in her 30s with dark hair long on the back and shaved on the sides. She was wearing a green sleeveless shirt and overalls. The victim was treated at the scene and later taken to the hospital.

11:46 p.m., July 23. 3rd block of NW 90th St

Police responded to reports of a domestic disturbance on the night of July 23. The 911 caller reported that shots had been fired inside the home, but this was later determined to be false. Officers determined that the only person remaining inside the house was the suspect, a 33-year-old female. The victim in the incident is a 40-year-old male who is believed to be the suspect’s brother. The suspect bit him, punched him, and cut him in the face. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No shots were fired during the incident, and no guns were found in the residence, but alcohol was a factor in the attack. The suspect was booked into King County Jail on domestic violence assault charges.

7:25 p.m., July 22. 1st Ave NW and NW 56th St

A woman called police after a man attempted to rob her at gunpoint on the evening of July 22. The victim said she had stopped her car at an intersection to allow pedestrians to cross the street when an unknown male approached her vehicle. She said that the suspect got out a black handgun, put it in the gap of her open window, and told her to give him all of her money. The victim said that she put her hand in front of the muzzle of the gun and pushed it away from her, then drove away at once. She described the suspect as a white male with a medium build; he was wearing dark pants and a blue button-down shirt with long sleeves. The suspect was not found in the area.

1:09 p.m., July 21. 60th block of 1st Ave NW

A family called police after discovering that their bicycles had been stolen overnight. The victims told police that the suspect broke into their garage between 5:00 p.m. on July 20 and 10:00 a.m. on the 21. The suspect cut the lock, entered the garage, and took three bicycles. The bicycles had been secured with a cable lock, which the suspect also cut. No fingerprints were found at the scene.

6:04 a.m., July 21. 77th block of 15th Ave NW

A burglar was caught on camera at a Ballard-area business on the morning of July 21. Police responded to the store after receiving word that the burglar alarm had been tripped. They found the front double doors forced outward and open. The doors had been pulled with such force that the frame was dislodged. The manager examined the store and said at first that nothing appeared to be missing. Surveillance video clearly showed the suspect entering the store and heading to the video section. It then showed him walking out of the store with 6-8 videos. No fingerprints were found at the scene.
