6:18 a.m., October 2. 18th block of NW Market St

Police responded to reports of a burglary in progress in Ballard early on the morning of October 2 and arrived at the scene to find a suspect throwing items out of a window. The responding officer observed one of the suspects behaving erratically, and one of the officers recognized him and was able to call him by name. The officers then observed a second suspect inside the room. The first suspect was arrested and handcuffed. He was sweating and had an elevated pulse, and Seattle Fire responded to the scene and determined that he needed further medical attention. He was taken to the hospital.

The second suspect attempted to escape via the elevator but then saw two officers and tried to go upstairs instead before finally taking the elevator, at which point he was taken into custody. He was later booked into King County Jail on burglary charges.

Officers examined the scene and found a medical bracelet belonging to the first suspect. The rooms had been ransacked; furniture had been moved and a phone was ripped from the wall. Several doors had been broken open. Officers spoke with the owner of the building, who confirmed that the suspects were not authorized to enter the premises.

10:13 a.m., September 30. 17th block of NW 59th St

A man returned home on the night of September 30 to find that his handgun had been stolen. The victim said that his residence was locked and he saw no signs of forced entry, so he believed the suspect had a key. Nothing other than the gun was missing, and nothing had been disturbed. There were no fingerprints.
