6:46 a.m., October 29. 83rd block of 15th Ave NW

Police responded to reports of a theft of alcohol from a grocery store on the morning of October 29. The responding officer spoke with a loss prevention officer, who stated that he saw the suspect attempt to conceal several bottles of alcohol in the waistband of his pants. The complainant recovered one, but then the suspect moved toward the exit, telling the complainant to come out to his car. The complainant said that the suspect also claimed that he had a gun and threatened to kill him. He did not see a gun on the suspect. The suspect left the scene and was not located in the area. No video surveillance footage of the incident was available.

6:59 p.m., October 27. 73rd block of 14th Ave NW

Police responded to reports of a robbery that landed the victim in the hospital on the evening of October 27. The responding officer spoke with the victim, who said that he belonged to a group that buys and sells shoes. The victim said that he arranged to meet with a male acquaintance at approximately 6:50 to sell him a pair of shoes. The victim took a friend to the meeting and the transaction was completed. The victim then left the meeting place on foot.

The victim said that while he was walking he saw two men following him. One of them covered his face and began running toward the victim, brandishing a semi-automatic handgun and yelling at him to get on the ground. The victim attempted to run away, but the suspect forced him to the ground and struck him in the face while trying to steal his cell phone and the money he had made from selling the shoes. The victim continued to fight the attack and managed to run away. He was later taken to his residence and then to the hospital.

The victim described the main suspect as a white male 18-20 years of age, 5’11” with a medium build, short hair, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and brown pants. The other suspect was described as a white male 18-20 years of age, 5’6” with a medium build, long brown hair, and wearing a green vest and blue jeans. The victim said that he did not believe the man who bought the shoes from him was involved.

5:47 p.m., October 26. 22nd block of NW 58th St

Police responded to reports of a burglary at an apartment on the evening of October 26. The victim stated that she believed the break-in occurred between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. that day. She said that she was missing a camera charger, her checkbook, and her cell phone. She said that she hadn’t seen her checkbook since September and believed that it had been taken while she was on vacation between September 22 and September 29. The victim thought that the other items had been taken on October 26, and she stated that she believed the suspect had used a key. She said that her purse was stolen while she was downtown six months ago, and the suspect could have used the keys from the purse to enter her apartment. The victim said that she never filed a report about that incident because she couldn’t figure out the SPD website.

The responding officer reported that the apartment was too cluttered to determine what the suspect had rifled through. He observed several electronics and other valuable items lying about, apparently undisturbed. There were no signs of forced entry, and the victim was advised to have her locks changed.
