7:17 a.m., November 5. 103rd block of Mary Ave NW

A woman called police on the morning of November 5 after confronting a burglar in her home. The victim, a 99-year-old woman who lives alone, said that she heard a noise and got up to investigate. When she left her bedroom, she saw a man with a flashlight standing in the room next door. The victim told the suspect to leave the house, and he walked down the hallway. The victim followed him to the living room and told him again to leave. She said that he didn’t take anything other than some loose change.

5:30 p.m., November 4. 3rd Ave NW and NW 132nd St

An 85-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car while crossing the street. The driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old man, was evaluated for signs of impairment, but none were found. The investigation was ongoing at the time of the report.

1:35 a.m., November 3. 39th block of 2nd Ave NW

Police responded to reports of a robbery in the middle of the night on November 3, but the victim was so intoxicated that it was difficult to determine what had occurred. The responding officer reconstructed a series of events in which the victim was drinking at a bar and began a conversation with an unknown male. The two then left the bar together, and when they had walked away from the bar, the suspect pinned the victim to the ground, stole his wallet, and ran away. The victim could not clearly state where the robbery had occurred or where the suspect had gone afterward. The responding officer drove the victim home.

4:00 p.m., November 2. 85th block of 15th Ave NW

A man was arrested for causing a disturbance in a store and attacking a person who attempted to stop him. The suspect, a transient who had been spending time in the area, had gotten into a dispute over the fact that he was blocking the store’s loading zone. That same afternoon, he entered the store and began disturbing customers and staff. When employees asked him to leave, he became more upset. One man attempted to call 911, and the suspect punched him in the nose. The victim and witnesses subdued the suspect, who managed to cut one of them on the hand with a pair of pliers. The suspect was arrested and booked in King County Jail.

2:00 a.m., November 2. 52nd block of Ballard Ave NW

A man told police that he was assaulted while walking in Ballard in the middle of the night on November 2. The victim said he left a bar highly intoxicated and was walking alone. He said that two transients approached him and one of them asked to buy marijuana. The victim said he didn’t want any, and one of the suspects punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground. The suspects then went through the victim’s pockets and stole his wallet, camera, and cell phone battery. The victim did not report the incident until the following day.

8:10 p.m., October 31. 3rd block of NW 85th St

Police responded to an apartment after a man called 911 from a pay phone to report that several suspects were assaulting his friends with a knife and bottles. The responding officer located the complainant/victim, who was covered with blood. The victim said that he had been drinking with a group of people, including the suspects, whom he had only met three weeks ago. He said that the argument began when the owner of the house told him to throw out clothing belonging to the suspects. He said that the suspects hit him with beer bottles, punched him, kicked him, and tried to break his finger. He changed his initial story, saying that no knives were involved.

The responding officer brought the victim to the scene, which was a small converted shack in a gravel lot. Only one of the people inside was conscious. The officer quickly identified the two suspects, but most of the people were too intoxicated to interview. The officer found traces of blood in the kitchen, but there were no broken bottles. None of the other inhabitants of the house said that there had been a fight, and neighbors said they had not heard anything unusual.

The victim positively identified the two suspects. The male suspect was too intoxicated to interview and was left at the scene. The female suspect was determined to have an outstanding felony warrant and was taken into custody.
