A woman called police after returning home to find that her home had been broken into and an expensive piece of jewelry had been stolen. The victim said that she left her home at around 8:00 a.m. that day and returned home at 5:30 p.m. She noticed that several items in her bedroom had been moved. The only item she knew to be missing was a 14-karat gold necklace with a cross pendant with 16 diamonds, valued at approximately $11,000. The victim said that her son had stolen the necklace in the past, and she believed that either he or one of his friends was behind the most recent burglary.

The sight of a man running through downtown Ballard with a flat screen TV led local firefighters to call in the police. The responding officer arrived at the scene and spoke with a firefighter who said that he had seen the suspect carrying the TV near the fire station, but the suspect dropped it and ran when more firefighters arrived on the scene. The TV was taken to the fire station and the officer was able to lift fingerprints from it.
The TV was determined to have been stolen from the mail room in a nearby apartment complex. The building manager said that the room is unsecured. The officer also found stolen mail on the ground outside the apartment complex, and it was ultimately returned to its intended recipients.

A grocery store employee called police after encountering trouble while attempting to subdue an aggressive shoplifter with an interesting taste in food. The responding officer arrived at the scene to find the suspect handcuffed to a railing. The store’s loss prevention officer said that the suspect entered the store and stole a bottle of beer, a bag of sugar, and a bunch of parsley. He said that when he identified himself to the suspect outside the store, the suspect immediately punched him in the face. The two struggled, and the suspect broke free and attempted to run away, but the loss prevention officer and other store employees eventually managed to subdue him and handcuff him to the railing.
The store manager and a store employee supported the loss prevention officer’s story, saying that the shoplifter was extremely aggressive and difficult to subdue. An off-duty officer also witnessed the fight and corroborated the accounts of store employees, stating that the suspect threw many punches. The loss prevention officer said that he believed one of his fingers may have been broken during the fight. He was treated at the scene and then sent to the hospital for further care.
The suspect told the officer that he was walking out of the store when “all these [expletives] jumped on me.” He complained of injuries to his wrist, shoulder, and face. The officer arrested the suspect and read him his rights. The suspect was later booked into King County Jail on robbery charges.
As for the beer, sugar, and parsley, they were all recovered at the scene.

Police responded to reports of a residential burglary on the afternoon of November 21. The victim said that she left the house at 9:45 that morning and returned home at 1:00 p.m. to find a panel of glass on her back door broken. The victim said that she called 911 and then her husband, who returned home and searched the house for suspects. He found a rock lying on the kitchen floor and concluded that it had been used to break the window on the door. He also noticed that the front door was locked, but the victim said that she was sure that she had locked it when she left the house that morning.
One of the victims said that a neighbor reported hearing a loud noise at 11:30 a.m., but at the time he thought it was just the wind. The victims said the suspect stole numerous items, including an iPad 2, several pieces of jewelry, and charge cords. No fingerprints were found at the scene.
