Update, July 11
Eater.com confirms that the Copper Gate bar will be replaced by a new joint called Olaf's, bought by fans of The Viking Tavern, which closed across the street recently.
The name Olaf was inspired by the plucky cartoon viking that was on display at The Viking, named Olaf.
As for the viking ship bar? Gone. The nudie art? Gone. The Pussy Room? Gone.
The Pussy Room, which will just be the "room in the back," may continue to have music. A projector or big screen TV may be added for sporting events.
Former Persimmon owner Sara Moot will be in charge of food. Stumbling Goat and Ma'ono server/bartender David "Cheeto" Chilson will handle service and liquor. Local entrepreneur David "Cheeto" Chilson will handle the business.
Food will be "delicious bar grub" and will include the same awesome reuben from Persimmons, Eater reports.
Olaf's is tentatively set to open on August 21, though lots of work remains.
Update, June 19, 12:20 p.m.
Copper Gate will be replaced by a new bar called Olaf's, according to a liquor license application in to the Liquor Control Board.
So, sounds like the new place will also pay due respects to our viking heritage, but will they keep the viking ship bar?
The new owners will be in touch with us when they are ready to reveal their plans, according to their spokesperson.

We just received word that owners of Ballard's Copper Gate have sold their business and that it will close on July 1. Its last operating day will be Sunday, June 30. The new owners are locally-based and will have a new concept and a different name for the venue.
"We enjoyed serving people for seven years. It's been a good run," says the owners of Copper Gate. "We would like to thank our loyal customers, our staff, the musicians who performed at our space, and Ballard for having us. We had a great time having the place and we wish the new owners the best."
A celebration will be held every day starting at 5 p.m. until Copper Gate closes its doors after the day's business is complete on Sunday, June 30. Copper Gate invites everyone (21 and over) to come and hang out. Events will be posted on its Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/thecoppergate.
Here's hoping that the new owners are just as dedicated to aquavit.
