Tired security guard doesn’t bother too much with shoplift
Aug. 27, 4:59 p.m., QFC 9900 Block of Holman Rd NW – A tired security guard at the end of his shift did not call police after two black males in their teens to early 20s stole four bottles of liquor (three Crown Royal and one Johnny Walker Red, if you’re curious) and shoved him aside as they escaped. The guard said he was only planning on asking for the liquor back and asking the two suspects to leave.
One of the males was wearing a black sweatshirt and blue jeans. The store surveillance video captured some images of the suspects entering the store but did not record the incident itself.
Friends’ televisions stolen, “signed” check cashed
Aug. 26, 11:36 a.m., 8800 Block of 30th Ave NW – When a man returned to his home, he noticed that a window in the back bedroom had been opened. At first, he didn’t see anything missing and didn’t think anything of it. But a few days later he found that two televisions (JVC, $299.99 each) that were being stored for a friend had been stolen. He also discovered that one of his checks had been cashed at an ATM for $400. The check had supposedly been “signed” by the victim but he said he didn’t sign it.
Housesitter Blues
Aug. 23, 9:04 a.m., 6500 Block of 7th Ave NW – A woman had the misfortune of house sitting for a friend while it was getting burglarized. While she was away from the house, the burglar came in and made a complete mess of the bedroom – opening all the dresser drawers, ransacking all the contents, rifling through the closet and throwing things on the floor, seemingly without a care. The housesitter did not know if anything had been stolden.
Handlebar thief gets away
Aug. 23, 8:28 a.m., 10500 Block of Greenwood Ave N – A woman’s bicycle was stolen from the secured garage of her apartment building. The handlebars had been stolen and the gear cables were cut. While there were security cameras, the property manager said it might be “several days” to view the footage.
Burglar makes a mess
Aug. 23, 12:53 a.m., 8000 Block of 13th Ave NW – A burglar gained entrance into a man’s house via a window propped open with a stick and two milk crates stacked on top of one another outside. The homeowner’s belongings were knocked off of the table in front of the window, but nothing appeared to be missing. The responding officer attempted to locate a usable fingerprint but was unable to get anything useful.
Man burglarized while out of town
Aug. 21, 4:45 a.m., 300 Block of NW 89th St – A man out of town called police when he noticed his account had been suspiciously accessed. When police arrived to his residence, they found that someone had made a forced entry through a window on the east side of the house. Inside, numerous items were out of place and various drawers had been opened. The officer noted items that looked out of place but left the house as he found it. He locked the windows and doors with the homeowner’s spare keys.
When the homeowner returned, he found several expensive items missing: Bose iPod dock ($100), Nikon digital camera ($250), Beats by Dre Headphones ($250), five watches averaging $500 each, white gold and platinum ring, an old Arizona driver license, an expired Washington driver license, Social Security card, credit card (since canceled), credit card (since canceled, this is the one that the suspect used), unknown amount of change from a jar.
The officer took items from the house in for fingerprinting.
Bathroom-using trespasser gets caught
Aug. 22, 3:47 a.m., 4200 Block of Greenwood Ave N – A stranger who had used a woman’s bathroom was caught just down the street, wandering around. The victim said she heard sounds in the middle of the morning and went out of her bedroom to investigate. She saw the bathroom door was closed, so she opened it to see the suspect urinating in her toilet. She asked him what he was doing. He put up his hands and said, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” and left the house. Outside, the victim positively identified him and police booked him into King County Jail.
