Store mischief leads to scuffle outside

Sept. 6, 7:30 p.m., 9900 Block of Holman Rd NW -- A fight broke out two white men and a group of six black males after the group of six caused a scene at a store.

The group of men, approximately 20 years old, knocked over items, got in a verbal fight with store staff, told an elderly woman "get out of the way you old bitch" and knocked down a fire extinguisher on the way out.

Once the group left, store staff called police and watched as the two other customers followed the group outside.

The two men didn't take kindly to the group's in-store rambunctiousness and decided to confront them. The two groups eventually took the confrontation to a park across the street. One of the men from the group took a rock and attempted to hit one of the two men, striking and dislocating one of his fingers.

Losing the fight, the two men attempted to escape back to the store. The group pushed and shoved them along the way.

Two separate witnesses who saw the incident said it looked like the two men had instigated the fight. They said if they hadn't followed the group outside, likely nothing would have happened. One of the witnesses caught part of the incident on camera.

Police submitted the video into evidence. An area check turned up negative.

Business broken into, little taken

Sept. 6, 4:26 a.m., 4900 Block of Leary Ave NW -- Seattle police responded to a business's alarm going off to find that someone had pried open the door, causing obvious damage, and then smashed an interior window. The suspect broke the lock to the liquor cabinet, taking a small quantity of alcohol and two empty cash boxes. Police were unable to locate fingerprints.

Trespasser scares girls

Sept. 6, 10:12 a.m., 3600 Block of 1st Ave NW -- While two women were out to a Sounders game, an unknown person made his move. The suspect kicked open the front door, leaving a large shoe print, but didn't appear to take anything.

The women returned to a door frame on the ground and the front door sitting open. The lights were all on and one roommate's bedroom door was left open (which "NEVER happens," said the other roommate).

The two women said they were concerned for their safety, despite nothing being stolen, as a similar incident has happened once before.
